Discipline Pays Off: Meet Fiji’s Baton of Honour Winner

Mosese Tuimatai, a recipient of the Baton of Honour from Ratu Sukuna Memorial School, emphasized the importance of living with discipline for long-term benefits. The 18-year-old, hailing from Maumi Village in Bau, Tailevu, expressed his surprise upon receiving the award, marking a significant achievement as he is the first in his family to complete Year 13.

Tuimatai reflected on a lesson from his father about the importance of listening to parents. He noted that the cadet training program he participated in instills self-discipline, which he believes is crucial for students’ development. He expressed gratitude to his teachers for facilitating training by the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces, which he credited with helping students learn valuable discipline.

With aspirations of becoming a marine engineer, Tuimatai conveyed his appreciation to God for his accomplishments and acknowledged his family’s unwavering support. He admitted to not expecting to receive the Baton of Honour, making the recognition all the more meaningful for him.
