Naitasiri Rookies Gear Up for High-Stakes Rugby Challenge!

Discipline First: Naitasiri’s Path to Rugby Glory

Naitasiri Secondary School’s under-17 rugby team is sharpening its focus on discipline ahead of the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League Eastern Zone quarter-finals set for next weekend. Recently, the team celebrated a solid 28-4 victory against Lami High School at the Saint Marcelin Primary School grounds in Suva.

Despite the victory, head coach Sakiasi Muakalou emphasized the need to address discipline issues that led to several yellow cards during the match. “We will be going back to the drawing board this week to focus on these areas, as we have a big game coming up,” he stated. Muakalou praised his players for their hard work and commitment, even as they faced challenges from a competitive Lami High School team.

He also expressed appreciation to the parents who traveled to cheer for the team, acknowledging the crucial role their support plays in uplifting the players’ spirits.

While Naitasiri’s opponent for the quarter-finals has not yet been confirmed, the team is eager to embrace the competitive spirit of the Eastern Zone quarter-finals, which will take place at the same location next weekend.

In a broader perspective, the culture of competition in Fiji’s secondary school rugby not only enhances the players’ skills but also fosters community unity and support. Naitasiri’s journey mirrors that of other schools, like Natabua High School, highlighting the determination and resilience of young athletes. The forthcoming matches offer these teams a platform to shine, instilling hope for ongoing growth and achievements in their sporting careers.
