Wales’ challenging season concluded in disappointment with a 36-28 defeat to the Wallabies at a wet AAMI Park in Melbourne last night, driven by a standout performance from Filipo Daugunu.
In slippery conditions, the Wallabies made a strong start with an extraordinary 98-meter try, securing their victory. Daugunu’s two tries, along with scores from Jake Gordon and Allan Alaalatoa, contributed significantly to Australia’s triumph.
Noah Lolesio added three penalties, while Ben Donaldson kicked another. The Australians capitalized on multiple Welsh errors in the Melbourne rain.
Wales scored through tries by Rio Dyer, two from Dewi Lake, and Liam Williams. Additional points came from successful kicks by Sam Costelow and Ben Thomas.
Australia’s lineup included Tom Wright, Andrew Kellaway, Josh Flook, Hunter Paisami, Filipo Daugunu, Noah Lolesio, Jake Gordon, James Slipper (captain), Matt Faessler, Taniela Tupou, Jeremy Williams, Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, Rob Valetini, Fraser McReight, and Charlie Cale.
