Fijian professional golfer Dinesh Chand is gearing up to host a junior golf tournament on February 16 at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club, uniting young golfing talent from both Fiji and Japan. This one-day event, which Chand is sponsoring himself, is designed not only to cultivate the skills of emerging golfers but also to enhance international camaraderie within the sport.
Chand, who has enjoyed a notable career on the Japan Golf Tour, expresses a deep commitment to giving back to the game that has greatly influenced his life. He has shared his enthusiasm for returning to Fiji and playing a role in advancing local golf talent. “It’s nice to be back home and supporting the local golfers. I come back once a year, and this tournament is a chance for us all to sit down together, have a chat, and enjoy the game,” Chand stated.
His passion for empowering the youth is evident as he aims to grow the tournament annually. The inclusion of junior golfers from Japan adds an exciting international dimension to the competition, providing a unique opportunity for them to experience Fiji’s welcoming culture, especially during Japan’s colder winter months. “They love to come and see my country, where I started playing golf.
