Roneel Prakash and Ba Golf Club captain Asish Chand shone at the Dinesh Chand Invitational tournament, which took place at the Denarau Golf Club yesterday. The event took a thrilling turn, concluding with sudden death playoffs to determine the champions in both the main and amateur divisions, heightening the day’s already competitive atmosphere.
Prakash claimed the prestigious main title by prevailing in the sudden death playoff, finishing with a remarkable gross score of 70. Concurrently, Asish Chand secured victory in the Amateur Division after also navigating through sudden death, culminating with a gross score of 77.
The Ladies Division saw Minuko excel, finishing strong with a gross score of 82, while Siteri Cash was awarded the Best Nett title with a commendable score of 68.
Dinesh Chand, the tournament founder, expressed delight at the event’s success, attributing it to favorable weather conditions that allowed for smooth gameplay. He emphasized that the tournament was organized to give back to the community and promote junior golf development, with approximately 120 players participating.
Chand also reflected on his health, noting he is recovering well after undergoing knee surgery earlier this year. He extended his gratitude to sponsors Punjas and Amitesh Chandra for their vital support in bringing the tournament to fruition.
This year’s Dinesh Chand Invitational not only showcased impressive golf talent but also highlighted the community’s commitment to supporting aspiring young golfers, marking yet another successful chapter in its history.
