Digicel Fiji has introduced its Digicel Pacific Starlink Enterprise Internet service for enterprise customers, available in Fiji through a reseller agreement with Starlink via its parent company, Telstra. This new service will enhance Digicel Fiji’s existing enterprise product portfolio.

Shally Jannif, the Chief Executive Officer for Digicel’s regional Pacific HUB Markets, highlighted that the collaboration with Starlink demonstrates Digicel Pacific’s commitment to innovation and the delivery of advanced solutions to clients. He expressed enthusiasm about providing Starlink’s enterprise services in Fiji, further expanding their connectivity options.

Starlink operates a network of broadband Internet satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO), a pioneering approach in the industry. Digicel explained that LEO satellites offer advantages due to their proximity to Earth, resulting in lower latency and better data throughput compared to traditional geostationary orbit (GEO) satellite options. This is particularly beneficial for activities such as online meetings and video calls that require faster connectivity.

Farid Mohammed, Chief Executive Officer of Digicel Fiji, noted that the advent of LEO satellites marks a significant advancement in satellite technology. He stated that the Starlink Enterprise Internet plans are specifically designed for enterprise customers, accommodating a variety of needs.

Mohammed also mentioned that the team has been conducting field tests of Starlink’s service to identify the optimal way to provide it to their enterprise clients. The findings indicate that Starlink is an excellent solution for businesses requiring reliable internet in areas lacking traditional coverage.

While fiber connectivity meets the demands of most enterprises, Mohammed emphasized that incorporating Starlink into Digicel Fiji’s offerings ensures high-speed Internet access even in the most remote regions of the country, where other technologies may not be feasible.
