A family in Lautoka is heartbroken following a fire that engulfed their home on Monday. The property, owned by a 70-year-old woman, was severely damaged, along with two of the three flats occupied by tenants on Nasoki Street in the Namoli Subdivision.

The Lautoka fire station received an emergency call at 11:59 AM, prompting an immediate response from the National Fire Authority. CEO Puamau Sowane reported that the responding team included two fire appliances and eight officers, along with additional senior officials specializing in structural fire safety.

The firefighters quickly set up two lengths of hoses to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes located just meters away. Thanks to their efforts and support from a fire hydrant on Vitogo Parade, they were able to control the fire.

The cost of the damages caused by the fire is still being assessed.
