A family in Nadi is now without a home after a fire destroyed their two-storey, seven-bedroom residence, along with their shop and Kava Bar, early yesterday morning. The property, owned by Abdul Munaf, had been a family business for over 35 years.

Nazil Nabeel, Abdul’s son, reported that the shop was closed on Saturday night, and all family members were asleep when the fire erupted. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.

“The fire is believed to have started from the back. My two-bedroom apartment, shop, and Kava Bar were all located downstairs. Our family home with five bedrooms was upstairs,” Mr. Munaf explained. “We were unable to save anything except the clothes on our backs. Right now, we are homeless and do not know where to go. My parents are staying at a friend’s house.”

He described the loss as a deeply painful experience. “We were in tears witnessing everything we worked hard for being consumed by flames,” he added.

The estimated damage is believed to exceed $100,000. The National Fire Authority has confirmed that their officers responded to the incident and are actively investigating the fire’s cause. Police are also conducting their own investigation.
