Twelve distressing days have elapsed since the disappearance of 29-year-old Arvin Chand, plunging his family into profound sorrow.
What was meant to be a joyful Diwali for Arvin’s parents has turned into a nightmare. Arvin, a bus driver, was temporarily driving a taxi for a friend when he left his home on November 2. That morning, while he informed his mother he was heading to work, he did not say goodbye, marking the last time his family would see him.
Arvin’s taxi was discovered abandoned near the Suva Flea Market two days later, on November 4, around 3 PM. The vehicle had its doors ajar and keys still on the seat, yet Arvin remained missing. Despite police initiating an investigation, the search has so far returned no results, leaving his family trapped in a painful limbo between hope and despair.
Satya Chand, Arvin’s father, expressed his heartbreak, recounting sleepless nights filled with worry. “My wife and I pray every moment, hoping for a miracle, praying that our son walks back through that door safe and sound,” he shared, his voice filled with emotion. “Not knowing if he’s okay or where he is—it feels like a piece of us is missing.”
The Chand family has tirelessly searched through familiar areas and contacted relatives and friends, but each passing day without news deepens their distress. Despite the uncertainty, they continue to hold onto hope that Arvin will return safely.
At the time of his disappearance, Arvin was last seen wearing a blue dotted shirt, black jeans, and black safety boots. He resides with his parents on Farm Road, 10 Miles, Nausori. A missing person’s report has been filed with the Nakasi Police Station, and authorities have assured that efforts to locate him are ongoing. In a heartfelt appeal, Mr. Chand urged anyone with information to step forward, emphasizing the family’s desperate need for answers. “Please, if anyone knows anything, help us find our son,” he pleaded.
This situation underscores the profound impact of such incidents on families and communities. While the search for Arvin continues, it serves as a reminder of the strength of hope in the face of adversity.
Summary: Arvin Chand has been missing for twelve days, causing immense distress for his family during what should have been a joyous time. Despite police investigations yielding no results, his family is devoted to finding him and is calling on the public for any information. Their enduring hope in seeking his safe return is a testament to their resilience.
