Twelve agonizing days have passed since 29-year-old Arvin Chand went missing, leaving his family in a state of heartbreak and worry. His parents faced an unimaginable experience when what should have been a joyful Diwali turned into an overwhelming nightmare. Arvin, who works as a bus driver, had been driving a taxi for a close friend when he set out from home on November 2.
That morning, Arvin informed his mother that he was going to work but did not say goodbye, marking the last time his family would see him. On November 4, his taxi was discovered abandoned near the Suva Flea Market at around 3 PM, with the doors left open and the keys still on the seat, yet there was no sign of Arvin.
As the police began their investigation, the search has so far shown no results, leaving the family in limbo between hope and fear. Arvin’s father, Satya Chand, expressed his distress, stating that he has struggled to sleep for days. In emotional remarks, he shared, “My wife and I pray every moment, hoping for a miracle, praying that our son walks back through that door safe and sound.” Their anguish is further deepened by the uncertainty of Arvin’s whereabouts.
The Chand family has tirelessly searched familiar locations and visited relatives and friends but has yet to receive any news. Despite this, they continue to hold on to the hope that Arvin will return safe. A missing person report has been filed at the Nakasi Police Station, and the Fiji Police Force has assured ongoing efforts to locate him.
In a heartfelt plea, Mr. Chand urged anyone with information to come forward. “Please, if anyone knows anything, help us find our son,” he implored.
