Twelve distressing days have passed since 29-year-old Arvin Chand vanished, leaving his family in deep sorrow and worry. What should have been a festive Diwali celebration turned into a heart-wrenching ordeal for his parents. Arvin, who typically worked as a bus driver, was driving a taxi as a favor for a close friend when he left his home on November 2.
On that fateful morning, he informed his mother he was heading to work but did not say goodbye. This was the last moment his family saw him. On November 4, two days later, Arvin’s taxi was found abandoned near the Suva Flea Market around 3 PM. The vehicle’s doors were left open, and the keys were sitting on the seat, but there was no sign of Arvin.
The police have initiated an investigation, yet no leads have been discovered, leaving his family in a state of hope mixed with fear. Arvin’s father, Satya Chand, expressed his anguish, stating, “I haven’t slept properly for days.” He shared that both he and his wife are praying constantly for a miracle, yearning for their son to return home safe.
The Chand family has been searching familiar places and visiting relatives and friends, but each passing day without news amplifies their pain. Despite the uncertainty, they remain hopeful that Arvin will come back to them. He was last seen wearing a blue dotted shirt, black jeans, and black safety boots, and resides with his parents on Farm Road, 10 Miles, Nausori.
A missing person’s report has been filed with the Police Station in Nakasi, and the Fiji Police Force has assured that they are actively working to locate him. In a heartfelt plea, Mr. Chand urged anyone who might have information to step forward: “Please, if anyone knows anything, help us find our son.”
In situations like this, community support can play a crucial role in such searches. It’s important for everyone to stay vigilant and provide any assistance they can, showing that when faced with loss, togetherness can foster hope.
Summary: Arvin Chand has been missing for twelve days, with his family searching for answers and holding onto hope. His father has made a public plea for information while authorities continue their investigation into his disappearance.
