The son of a businessman from Martintar, Nadi, is seeking answers following the tragic drowning of his father in the Mamanuca Group waters two weeks ago. Zou Fan, 52, known affectionately as Andy by the locals, was an executive at the tourist agency Fabulous Holiday. His death adds to the growing list of drowning victims in Fiji.

Zou Junjie, the grieving son, described his father as a joyful and kind man who spread love and happiness to those around him. He shared that a couple from New Zealand found his father’s body while snorkeling near the Malamala Beach Club.

“My dad took a group of 80 Chinese tourists to explore the island beach club, and afterwards, they went snorkeling. After some time, nobody could find him on the island,” Zou Junjie recounted, visibly affected by his loss.

Brad Rutherford, CEO of South Sea Cruises, confirmed the death, stating, “We were aware of a death, but we cannot be certain it was due to drowning. We are currently awaiting the autopsy report.”

Andy leaves behind two sons and his mother, creating a deep void in their lives. Police spokesperson Wame Bautolu confirmed the incident occurred on October 18 at 4 p.m. and noted that an investigation is ongoing. “He drowned, and an investigation is underway,” Bautolu stated, as the family continues to seek clarity in their time of grief.
