A desperate appeal for help has been made by a 29-year-old schoolteacher after his mother vanished from a care home in Suva last week. Mohammed Siraz, who works at Yasawa High School, reported that his 49-year-old mother, Zareena Bibi, has been missing from the St Vincent Home in Toorak since last Thursday.
According to Mr. Siraz, his mother is a patient at St Giles Hospital and had been residing at the St Vincent Home. “I received a call around 8 am last Thursday informing me that my mother was missing,” he explained. After waiting for 24 hours without updates, he decided to go to the police in Toorak to report her disappearance. However, he discovered there was no official report filed, prompting him to visit the Totogo Police Station to lodge a report.
During his investigation, Mr. Siraz learned that Zareena was last seen in the Valelevu area on Monday. He described her as wearing a green salwar kameez and emphasized her health condition, appealing to the public for assistance. “I am pleading with the public to help me in finding my sick mother,” he said, asking anyone with information to reach out via phone or contact the nearest police station.
In response to the situation, police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that a missing persons report has been officially registered at the Totogo Police Station in Suva. The community is encouraged to be vigilant and assist in finding Zareena Bibi, demonstrating the power of unity in times of distress.
