Twelve difficult days have elapsed since 29-year-old Arvin Chand went missing, leaving his family in deep sorrow and uncertainty. What was meant to be a joyous Diwali transformed into a heartbreaking ordeal for Arvin’s parents.
An experienced bus driver, Arvin had gone out to drive a taxi as a favor for a friend on November 2. Before he left that morning, he informed his mother about going to work but did not say goodbye—a moment that would become painfully significant for his family.
Arvin’s taxi was discovered abandoned near the Suva Flea Market on November 4, with the doors left open and the keys still inside. However, there was no sign of Arvin.
The police have initiated an investigation, but so far, their efforts have not led to any breakthroughs, leaving Arvin’s family suspended between hope and dread. His father, Satya Chand, expressed his torment, stating that he hasn’t slept properly in days, echoing the sentiment of countless families facing similar situations.
“My wife and I pray for a miracle, hoping our son will walk back home safe,” he shared, voice filled with despair. The longing for answers has compelled the Chand family to search every familiar place and reach out to relatives and friends, yet each passing day amplifies their anguish.
Described as wearing a blue dotted shirt, black jeans, and safety boots at the time of his disappearance, Arvin lives with his parents in Nausori. A missing person report has been filed at the Nakasi Police Station, where authorities have vowed to continue their efforts in locating him. In a heartfelt appeal, Mr. Chand urged anyone with potential information to step forward and assist in their search for Arvin.
“Please, if anyone knows anything, help us find our son,” he pleaded.
The ongoing search for Arvin highlights the resilience and determination of his family during this challenging time, inspiring hope that they will soon be reunited. With collective community effort and support from the authorities, there remains a strong possibility that Arvin will be found safe.
