Jack’s of Fiji has officially unveiled the Design Fiji 2026 competition, a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting textile design under its Aisokula brand, which is known for its vibrant Bula wear. The competition commenced on February 12 and is set to run until March 18, 2026. Open to Fijian citizens residing in the country, participants are invited to submit their original, hand-drawn textile designs that should be A3 size or larger. Submissions can either be mailed to the company’s headquarters in Nadi or dropped off at any of Jack’s of Fiji stores nationwide.
Winners of the competition will be revealed on March 23, 2026, with three talented designers selected to receive a cash prize of $2,500 each. Additionally, they will have the unique opportunity to launch their own collection under the Aisokula brand, which will be available for sale in Jack’s stores. Winners will also earn quarterly royalties based on the garment sales during the first 30 days after their collection’s release.
According to Biu Veikauyaki, the Brand Activations Manager, this initiative seeks to spur growth in Fiji’s creative sector. “This initiative is about more than just fashion,” Veikauyaki noted. “It’s about promoting our culture through designs that allow our people to wear and proudly showcase our unique Fijian identity.”
Aisokula’s designs draw inspiration from both traditional and contemporary Pacific styles and encompass a wide range of casual, corporate, and resort wear. It is important to note that employees of Jack’s of Fiji and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate in the competition. Furthermore, non-winning designs will not be utilized commercially and will be available for collection after the competition concludes.
This initiative not only highlights local artistry but also aims to create income-generating opportunities for local designers within Fiji’s retail and fashion industry, reflecting a growing trend of promoting indigenous culture and craftsmanship.
