Minister for Public Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau is currently serving as the Acting Prime Minister until Thursday, as confirmed by Tuisawau himself. This transition comes in light of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka being out of the country. According to coalition agreements, the deputy prime minister is designated to rotate this role during the absence of the prime minister.
While Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica is confirmed to be in the country, there are efforts underway to ascertain the whereabouts of the other deputy prime ministers, Viliame Gavoka and Professor Biman Prasad.
This leadership structure indicates a robust political framework that allows for continuity in governance, showcasing the coalition’s adaptability while managing international commitments. It reflects a systematic approach, ensuring that the nation’s affairs remain efficiently managed in the prime minister’s absence.
Additionally, the practice of rotating the Acting Prime Minister role provides a fair and democratic means to share power among the leadership, which can help in fostering collaborative governance and enhancing unity within the cabinet.
