Deputy PM Slams Rumors of Political Interference in FICAC Appointment

Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica has dismissed allegations circulating on social media regarding political interference in the appointment of Barbara Malimali as Commissioner of FICAC.

In an interview, Kamikamica described these claims as absurd and offensive to the Judicial Services Commission, which operates independently and is led by the Acting Chief Justice. He expressed disappointment that the individual making these assertions is currently abroad, suggesting that legal action would have been taken had she been in Fiji.

“It is unfortunate. I am saddened that anyone would consider her a credible source. It is regrettable she is not in the country, or she would have faced legal consequences,” Kamikamica stated.
