A dengue fever outbreak has officially concluded in the Western Division, as confirmed by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services. Since January 1, the total number of reported cases in this region has reached 200, with the majority of infections occurring among individuals aged 10 to 29 years.
In response to the outbreak, the Ministry had prepared a comprehensive Dengue Action Plan, which has been effectively implemented. Ongoing monitoring by divisional heads and senior managers has been crucial in managing the situation. Health authorities anticipate an increase in dengue cases each year during the rainy season from October to April, especially following periods of adverse weather.
Divisional health teams have been proactive in responding to the surge in dengue cases, encouraging early detection, treatment, and referral for more severe instances. Residents in the Western Division are urged to seek prompt medical attention if they experience symptoms associated with dengue fever.
