A new chapter in community safety has begun with the launch of the Denarau Community Post, which officially started operations on February 10, 2026. This initiative marks a significant strengthening of the collaboration between police and the business community in the area.
The Denarau Community Post has been revitalized through concerted efforts from Denarau Corporation Limited, its resort affiliates, and the broader Port Denarau business community. This partnership has facilitated a dedicated police presence on the island, enhancing security for residents and tourists alike.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu expressed his gratitude for the collaboration, emphasizing the crucial role that private sector support plays in bolstering safety and security initiatives. He underscored that cooperative efforts between law enforcement and businesses contribute significantly not only to public safety but also to the economic stability of the region.
“This is a win-win for everyone involved,” Commissioner Tudravu stated. “Enhanced safety and security will foster healthy growth in our tourism sector.” He pointed out that the developments witnessed over the past year indicate strong investor confidence, which is inherently tied to perceptions of safety in Fiji.
The soft opening of the community post is anticipated to further bolster investor assurance, largely due to the robust investments directed toward supporting law enforcement endeavors. Previously, incidents on Denarau Island were attended to by officers from the Nadi Police Station; however, with the new establishment, Tourist Police officers will now be stationed directly on-site to deliver prompt assistance.
This initiative not only highlights the importance of collaboration in creating a safer environment but also signals a positive outlook for the tourism sector in Fiji, with the promise of continued growth and tranquility for all who visit and reside in the area.
