Defending Champions Gear Up for Epic Marist 7s Showdown!

Defending champions Army Green are set to maintain their title as they prepare for the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament, kicking off tomorrow at 7 am at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This tournament marks the final leg of the Fiji Bitter 7s Series for the year, drawing over 95 teams and more than 1,500 players.

Captain Inia Tawalo emphasized that while defending their championship will be challenging, the team has been dedicated during their preparations. “We have a huge task ahead of us for this tournament, but we are ready to give our all. We’ve been talking together as a team, during our preparations, and we will be treating all our matches like our final match,” he stated. Tawalo acknowledged that all their opponents would be motivated to take down the defending champions, but he expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the competition.

Interestingly, this tournament will also feature new entries along with veteran teams, including the likes of Bula Bay Blue and Mana Magicians. The Marist 7s will follow closely the recent Nawaka 7s, which saw Army Green face significant competition but ultimately succeed in their quest for victory.

As the rugby community gathers for this exciting event, spectators and fans can look forward to thrilling matches that showcase both seasoned players and emerging talents. The tournament offers a platform for nurturing grassroots rugby and emphasizes the importance of community engagement through sports.

With commitment and resilience, the Army Green team will strive not just for victory but also to inspire young athletes and maintain the rich rugby tradition of Fiji. The anticipation for the Marist 7s is palpable, promising a showcase of athleticism, camaraderie, and unyielding Fijian spirit as teams battle for glory on the field.
