Veteran defender Ame Votoniu scored a crucial equalizer in the second half as Nadi drew 1-1 with Labasa in their Digicel Fiji Premier League Round 15 match at Prince Charles Park.
Labasa started strong, taking the lead just two minutes into the game with a goal from Solomon Islands import Tigi Molea. Despite several missed opportunities from Nadi’s Apolosi Seru and Siotame Kubu, the home team struggled to find the net, while Labasa’s Christopher Wasasala, Melvin Mani, and Akeimi Ralulu were thwarted multiple times by Nadi goalkeeper Joela Biuvanua.
At halftime, Labasa held a 1-0 advantage, but as the match progressed, Nadi gained momentum. A key attacking play led by Captain William Valentine allowed Votoniu to rise above the defenders and head the ball past Labasa goalkeeper Joji Vuakaca.
Following this match, Labasa remains in second place with 29 points from 15 games, while Nadi climbs to fifth place with 22 points.
