A cheque for $11,362.32 was presented by Nadi-based company Decked Out Fiji Group to support individuals living with cancer. This contribution was made during a Pinktober event held last week, where managing director Louise Joseph highlighted that this marks the organization’s third consecutive year of assisting the Fiji Cancer Society.

Joseph expressed gratitude towards the company’s customers, suppliers, and dedicated staff, stating that their collective effort was vital in raising such a significant amount for Pinktober. She emphasized that community support is one of Decked Out Fiji’s core values, showcasing their commitment to giving back and helping underserved populations.

While the company previously made private donations in the first two years, Joseph explained that they decided to shift their approach this year. They realized that their individual contributions did not significantly contribute to raising awareness about cancer prevention, an issue they believe is crucial.

Joseph shed light on the grim reality of cancer in Fiji, noting that the Ministry of Health reports it is now the third most common cause of death in the country. She shared her personal motivation, having lost close family members and friends to cancer, which fueled her commitment to the Fiji Cancer Society.

Looking ahead, Joseph affirmed that Decked Out Fiji would continue to support the Fiji Cancer Society along with other businesses and individuals committed to this important cause.

This continued support not only highlights the importance of corporate responsibility but also reinforces the community’s role in fighting cancer awareness and prevention. Such contributions can make a profound impact in the lives of those affected by cancer, promoting a more informed and supportive environment.

In summary, Decked Out Fiji Group has reaffirmed its dedication to supporting the Fiji Cancer Society for a third year, emphasizing the importance of community and collective efforts in raising awareness and funding for cancer-related initiatives.
