A man has tragically lost his life while in custody at the Savusavu Police Station. Allegations suggest that he was assaulted by another inmate in the cell block yesterday afternoon. Following the incident, police officers promptly transported the victim to Savusavu Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
In light of this unfortunate occurrence, Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew has initiated an investigation, delegating officers from the Criminal Investigations Department to examine the situation thoroughly and determine the circumstances leading to this death.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
