Former Flying Fijians fly-half and Queen Victoria School alumnus Waisea Luveniyali believes that the 2024 Vodafone Super Deans competition has achieved unprecedented levels of intensity and challenge, outpacing previous years.
He remarked, “Overall, I think the Deans competition is competitive; every year represents a step up. This year, we witnessed significant upsets among the U18 teams. As we approach the semi-finals this week, I believe the Western teams are particularly strong; they are well prepared and well coached.”
In the upcoming semi-finals, Cuvu College and Ratu Navula will face off against Nasinu Secondary School and Queen Victoria School (QVS), respectively. With high stakes in play, Luveniyali asserts that the outcomes will likely hinge on very narrow margins.
He added, “Crucial decision-making will be vital, and every point counts; Saturday’s matches will be do-or-die encounters. While Cuvu and Ratu Navula are strong contenders, we cannot overlook QVS and Nasinu Secondary. They have proven they deserve to be in this position, and anything can happen.”
