Former Flying Fijians fly-half and alumnus of Queen Victoria School, Waisea Luveniyali, is confident that the 2024 Vodafone Super Deans competition has reached a new level of intensity and competitiveness, exceeding the benchmarks of past years.

Luveniyali expressed, “Overall, I think the Deans competition is competitive; each year brings a step up.” He noted that this year witnessed significant upsets within the U18 teams. As the semi-finals approach, he highlighted that the Western teams are exceptionally strong, well-prepared, and well-coached.

In the upcoming semi-finals, Cuvu College will face off against Nasinu Secondary School, while Ratu Navula is set to go up against Queen Victoria School. The anticipation for these matches is high, with Luveniyali indicating that the outcomes may hinge on very narrow margins.

“Crucial decision-making and every point will be vital come Saturday; it’s a do-or-die battle,” Luveniyali stated. He further acknowledged the strength of Cuvu and Ratu Navula but cautioned against underestimating QVS and Nasinu Secondary, emphasizing that both teams have proven their worth and anything is possible in these high-stakes matches.
