Waisea Luveniyali, a former fly-half for the Flying Fijians and alumnus of Queen Victoria School, believes the 2024 Vodafone Super Deans competition is more intense and challenging than in previous years. He stated, “Overall, I think the Deans competition is competitive; every year is a step up.”
This season has already featured significant upsets in the U18 teams, and as the semi-finals approach, he notes that the Western teams are particularly strong and prepared. Cuvu College and Ratu Navula will compete against Nasinu Secondary School and Queen Victoria School in the upcoming matches.
Luveniyali emphasized that the semi-finals will hinge on minor details, remarking, “Crucial decision-making and every point is crucial; come Saturday, it’s a do-or-die battle.” He acknowledged the strengths of Cuvu and Ratu Navula but cautioned against underestimating QVS and Nasinu Secondary, both of which have shown their capabilities in the tournament, signifying that anything could happen in the matches ahead.
