Former Flying Fijians fly-half and alumnus of Queen Victoria School’s Deans program, Waisea Luveniyali, believes the upcoming 2024 Vodafone Super Deans competition has achieved a new level of intensity and competition, exceeding previous years’ standards.
“I think the Deans competition is extremely competitive; each year presents a new challenge,” Luveniyali remarked. He highlighted this year’s notable surprises within the U18 teams and expressed confidence in the preparedness of the Western teams heading into the semi-finals.
As the semi-finals approach, Cuvu College and Ratu Navula are set to compete against Nasinu Secondary School and Queen Victoria School (QVS), respectively. With high stakes, Luveniyali anticipates that the outcomes will hinge on narrow margins.
“Critical decision-making and every point will be essential on Saturday; it’s a do-or-die situation,” he stated. While acknowledging the strength of Cuvu College and Ratu Navula, Luveniyali cautioned against underestimating QVS and Nasinu Secondary, asserting their right to compete at this level and noting that anything can happen on game day.
