Waisea Luveniyali, a former fly-half for the Flying Fijians and an alumnus of Queen Victoria School, believes that the 2024 Vodafone Super Deans competition has reached a new level of intensity and challenge, surpassing previous years’ standards.
He commented, “Overall, I think the Deans competition is competitive; every year is a step up. This year we witnessed significant upsets in the U18 teams. However, as we approach the semi-finals, I feel the Western teams are strong contenders; they are well-prepared and well-coached.”
As the semi-finals approach, Cuvu College and Ratu Navula will face off against Nasinu Secondary School and Queen Victoria School, respectively. The upcoming matches promise to be highly competitive, with Luveniyali emphasizing that outcomes could be decided by very narrow margins.
“Crucial decision-making will be vital, and every point counts this Saturday; it’s a do-or-die battle. While Cuvu and Ratu Navula are formidable, we cannot underestimate QVS and Nasinu Secondary. They have demonstrated their capability to be here, and anything is possible.”
