A tragic road accident in Ra last night claimed the life of a man in his 60s. The victim was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a man in his 30s when it veered off the Kings Road near Wairuku. Emergency services quickly transported the occupants to Rakiraki Hospital; however, the man was pronounced dead upon arrival. Alongside him, three other passengers were taken for treatment, with two remaining hospitalized at Rakiraki Hospital and one transferred to Lautoka Aspen Hospital for further care.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, and the driver of the vehicle is expected to be questioned as part of this process.
This unfortunate incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety in Fiji.
