The Director of Public Prosecutions has requested additional time to provide complete disclosures in a case involving a man accused of the tragic death of his one-year-old daughter. Sairusi Ceinaturaga faced Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull yesterday, where he was charged with murder, assault, and intent to cause grievous harm.

The allegations against Ceinaturaga include slapping his 27-year-old partner while she was cooking, striking his daughter with an aluminum spoon, slamming her face against a wall, and throwing her onto a mattress. Furthermore, he is also accused of assaulting his three-year-old son by hitting his head against the wall. Police reports suggest that Ceinaturaga has a history of abusive behavior.

With the DPP’s request for more time to compile evidence granted, Justice Bull has instructed both parties to submit an application within the next 14 days. Ceinaturaga remains in custody, and the court has scheduled the next hearing for February 6.

This case raises serious concerns about domestic violence and the safety of children, highlighting the need for greater awareness and preventative measures in society. As the legal process unfolds, it is hoped that justice will be served, ensuring the protection of vulnerable individuals.

In summary, Sairusi Ceinaturaga is facing serious charges related to the death of his daughter and the assault of his partner and son, with the DPP seeking additional time to prepare evidence. The next court date is set for February 6, and the ongoing legal proceedings underscore the critical importance of addressing issues of domestic violence.
