The highly anticipated Dayal’s Sawmillers National Club Championship 2025 final play-offs kicked off today at the Fiji FA Academy grounds in Vatuwaqa, with teams competing for a lucrative prize pool of $4,000.
Mohammed Yusuf, the Chief Executive Officer of the Fiji Football Association, expressed enthusiasm about the tournament, emphasizing that it symbolizes an exciting end to a remarkable year in football, highlighting robust participation from various significant districts across Fiji.
Yusuf also noted that some teams might experience setbacks as a number of players have signed professional contracts with Bula FC, which will prevent them from playing in the concluding rounds of this tournament. “Some teams may be affected as a few players have now signed professional contracts with Bula FC and won’t feature in these final rounds, but this only shows the strength of our development pathway,” he stated.
The tournament is set to feature two matches daily, continuing through Saturday, with the final showdown taking place on Sunday at 1 PM. The opening matches today featured Friends United squaring off against Combine Brothers at 12 PM, followed by Ray United FC facing Combine Verata at 2 PM.
The stakes are high, as this year’s champion will not only earn the top prize of $4,000, but the runner-up will also secure a respectable $1,500. With excitement in the air and a competitive spirit driving the teams, the play-offs promise to deliver thrilling football action.
