Jonathan Hill achieved a knockout victory over Rupeni Rokoratu in the second round of the South Pacific Boxing Promotion held at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday. Hill managed to defeat the larger Rokoratu with a well-placed punch to the chest.
Despite a weight difference of 10 kilograms between them, Hill was confident in his ability to secure a win. He likened the matchup to the biblical story of David and Goliath, noting the contrast in their sizes as he competed between middleweight and heavyweight classifications.
In his strategy, Hill focused on tiring Rokoratu during the first round before landing the decisive body shot he is known for. Although Hill acknowledged that Rokoratu was a skilled fighter, he observed a lack of composure in his opponent’s performance.
Hill expressed hope for more competitive boxing events in Labasa, which would provide stronger challenges for local fighters.
