Jonathan Hill secured a victory by knocking out Rupeni Rokoratu in the second round of the South Pacific Boxing Promotion held at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.
Hill took down the larger Rokoratu with a decisive punch to the chest. Despite a weight difference of 10 kilograms, Hill remained confident in his ability to overcome his opponent. He likened the matchup to the biblical tale of David and Goliath, noting the contrast between a middleweight and a heavyweight.
“I aimed to tire him out in the first round before landing my signature body shot,” Hill explained. He acknowledged Rokoratu’s skill as a fighter but observed that he lacked composure in the ring.
Hill expressed hope that an increase in competitive boxing events in Labasa would lead to more challenging bouts.
