Jonathan Hill achieved a decisive knockout against Rupeni Rokoratu in the second round of the South Pacific Boxing Promotion event held at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday. Hill managed to bring down the towering Rokoratu with a well-timed punch to the chest.
Despite a 10-kilogram weight difference favoring his opponent, Hill was confident in his ability to secure victory. “I knew he came in to take me out due to the kilograms gap difference,” he stated, likening the matchup to the biblical battle of David and Goliath.
The fight involved a middleweight taking on a heavyweight, and Hill revealed that he focused on tiring out Rokoratu in the first round before delivering the powerful body shot he is known for.
While he acknowledged that Rokoratu was a skilled fighter, Hill pointed out a lack of composure on his part. He expressed optimism about future competitions in Labasa, suggesting that more events would lead to tougher challenges for fighters.
