Darts Fever: Fiji’s Ladies 501 Singles Sets Exciting Stage!

The Defence Club, supported by Cardos, will host the eagerly awaited Ladies 501 Singles competition at the Fiji Club tomorrow. According to Suva Darts Association president Edward Roxburgh, this event signifies the revival of Ladies tournaments after more than five years, with 16 participants of various experience levels set to compete.

The competition will consist of four pools, each featuring four players. “Top seeds include well-known players Mereoni Naikanitoba and Mable Maino from Papua New Guinea,” Roxburgh noted. The winner will receive $400 and a trophy, while additional prizes will be awarded to the runner-up, semi-finalists, and pool winners.

Anticipation is high as the event also seeks to identify the most promising new player among the competitors. Roxburgh emphasized that “this tournament not only serves as a competitive platform, but is also vital for the Team Fiji selection process.” The selected team will have the privilege of representing Fiji at the forthcoming fourth South Pacific Darts Championships scheduled for January 2025, organized by the Fiji Darts Association.

Additionally, the Fintel Open Teams League continues to enhance the darts excitement, taking place every Monday and Thursday evening at the Fiji Club. As the playoffs approach in the upcoming weeks, the darts scene in Fiji is set to be lively and engaging.
