The Defence Club is set to host the highly anticipated Cardos-sponsored Ladies 501 Singles competition at the Fiji Club tomorrow. Edward Roxburgh, president of the Suva Darts Association, stated that this event signifies the return of women’s tournaments after a hiatus of over five years, featuring 16 participants with varying levels of experience.

The competition will be divided into four pools, each containing four players. “Leading the competition as the top seeds are renowned players Mereoni Naikanitoba and Mable Maino from Papua New Guinea,” Roxburgh remarked. The tournament champion will receive $400 and a trophy, along with prizes for the runner-up, semi-finalists, and Pool winners.

There is a growing excitement as the competition also aims to identify promising new talent among the competitors. Roxburgh noted, “This tournament serves not only as a competitive platform but also plays an important role in the selection process for Team Fiji.” The selected team will represent Fiji at the upcoming fourth South Pacific Darts Championships in January 2025, organized by the Fiji Darts Association.

In addition, the Fintel Open Teams League is intensifying the darts atmosphere, taking place every Monday and Thursday evening at the Fiji Club. With playoffs approaching in the coming weeks, the darts scene in Fiji is expected to be filled with action and engagement.
