Top winger Darcy Graham is set to make his long-awaited return to the Scotland national team this Sunday, marking his first appearance in over a year as he has been named in a seasoned lineup to take on the FIJI Water Flying Fijians in the opening autumn Test at Murrayfield. Graham, who last played for Scotland during the World Cup match against Ireland in October 2023, has shown his readiness by featuring in five of Edinburgh’s six matches this season.
The squad consists mainly of players from Glasgow and Edinburgh, as the match takes place outside the international window, leading to the unavailability of stars like Finn Russell, Ben White, and Blair Kinghorn. Consequently, Adam Hastings will take the role of fly-half wearing the number 10 jersey, with Ali Price stepping in as scrum-half and Kyle Rowe lining up at full-back.
Sione Tiupulotu, who was recently appointed captain, will lead the team for the first time. Among the starting members, Rowe is the only player with fewer than ten caps, while the squad overall is rich in Test match experience, with Coach Gregor Townsend fielding a familiar lineup.
Tom Jordan represents the only uncapped player in the 23-man squad and could potentially make his debut off the bench, while Edinburgh prop D’Arcy Rae, who has one cap, is also set for a place among the substitutes. The match is scheduled to kick off at 5:40 AM Fiji Time.
This encounter presents a great opportunity for the Scottish side to build momentum and for Graham to shine after his layoff, as they face a challenging opponent in Fiji. Fans will be eager to see how the experienced players manage to blend with the newcomers in what promises to be an exciting match.
