Daniel Saifiti, the former Fiji Bati player, has signed with the Redcliffe Dolphins, marking a new chapter in his rugby career after a lengthy tenure with the Newcastle Knights. Since joining the National Rugby League in 2016, Saifiti has been a key player for the Knights. However, he feels this transition is necessary for growth and change.
Reflecting on his past at Newcastle, Saifiti expressed a desire to break free from his comfort zone. “I was one of the senior boys (at Newcastle); me and my brother Jacob were probably the last two there over the last decade,” he shared. “You get in that comfort zone, even if you don’t mean to do it. But I knew it was time for a change.”
Saifiti and his partner came to the mutual decision that it was time to move on, leading to his exciting new opportunity with the Dolphins. One of the key attractions for Saifiti in joining the Dolphins is his reunion with former coach Kristian Woolf. “There’s representative players all over the park here, but probably the main thing was coming under Woolfy again,” he stated. Their bond developed during a brief period together in 2019, and they’ve maintained their relationship since then. After speaking with Woolf, Saifiti realized he had found the right club for his next adventure.
This move could not only rejuvenate Saifiti’s career but also strengthen the Dolphins as they look to build a competitive team. His experience and prior success in the league could be a significant asset for the Redcliffe Dolphins, providing hope for a promising season ahead.
