Tropical Depression 10F has officially been upgraded to Category 1 Cyclone Seru, according to Misaeli Funaki, the Director of the Nadi Weather Office. The cyclone intensified to tropical status around 3 PM today and is currently moving southeast towards Vanuatu.

While TC Seru is projected to pass to the west of Fiji, Funaki has raised concerns for mariners due to strong northwest winds and heightened wave activity caused by the cyclone. Residents in Fiji’s western division may also experience rainfall as the cyclone advances.

This follows the recent monitoring of Tropical Depression 09F, which was closely watched for possible intensification. Similar weather systems, such as TD01F and TD09F, highlight the importance of community preparedness and support in facing severe weather events. Authorities are urging residents to stay informed and ensure their emergency plans are current.

Fijian communities have a history of remarkable resilience and togetherness during severe weather challenges. This spirit of unity will be vital as they confront Cyclone Seru and any related adverse weather conditions. There is an encouraging sentiment that as Cyclone Seru approaches, residents will unite to prioritize safety and preparedness, fostering a strong community spirit during this time.
