Tropical Cyclone Rae remains classified as a Category 2 system as confirmed by the Fiji Meteorological Service. As of 8:00 AM today, TC Rae was located approximately 50 kilometers west-northwest of Vanua Balavu and around 60 kilometers east-southeast of Taveuni, moving south-southwest at 15 km/h.
The cyclone is currently exhibiting sustained winds of 95 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 130 km/h. Meteorologists predict that wind speeds could escalate to 110 km/h, with gusts potentially hitting 155 km/h by tomorrow morning. Due to the approaching severe weather, a storm warning is in effect for several islands, including Vanua Balavu, Tuvuca, Lakeba, and the Moala Group. Additionally, a gale warning has been issued for the eastern areas of Vanua Levu and surrounding regions, while strong wind warnings are in place for the rest of Vanua Levu and northeastern Viti Levu.
