Tropical Cyclone Rae is expected to strengthen into a Severe Tropical Cyclone, as reported by the Fiji Meteorological Office. Currently, it is categorized as a Category Two cyclone and is located northeast of Vanua Levu, moving south-southeast towards the Lau Group.

In anticipation of TC Rae’s arrival, heavy rain warnings have been issued for the entire Fiji region, with a gale warning in place for the eastern parts of Vanua Levu. Meteorologists are advising residents in potentially affected areas to be ready for strong winds and heavy rainfall, which could result in flooding in low-lying areas and near significant rivers.

TC Rae’s emergence comes on the heels of Tropical Depression 09F, marking a pattern that requires communities to remain alert. Fiji Met Director Misaeli Funaki has urged residents to take safety measures, including securing homes and assembling emergency supplies.

The situation is reminiscent of past weather events, such as Tropical Disturbance 01F, which caused extensive rainfall and hazardous conditions across Fiji.
