Tropical Cyclone Rae continues to be categorized as a Category 2 cyclone, posing a serious threat to communities in its path. The cyclone was reported at approximately 75 kilometers south of Cicia Island and 264 kilometers north-northwest of Ono-i-Lau, according to Misaeli Funaki, Director of the Fiji Meteorological Service. As of 3 PM, TC Rae is moving southward at 15 kilometers per hour through the Lau waters and is directed towards Ono-i-Lau.
Currently, wind speeds are reaching up to 90 kilometers per hour in certain regions, with reports from Vanuabalavu highlighting concerns regarding heavy rainfall and potential flooding. Residents across several islands, including Vanua Balavu, Tuvuca, Lakeba, Moce, Cicia, and Nayau, are advised to remain alert and take precautions as storm warnings are in effect. Additionally, a heavy rain warning is applicable to all of Fiji, indicating the heightened risk of flooding.
