Fiji Airways has announced the cancellation of all flights to and from Brisbane on Saturday, March 8, 2025, due to the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Alfred. The airline has expressed regret for the disruption and is actively working to accommodate affected travelers on their Sunday, March 9, 2025, services.
On Sunday, flight FJ921 is set to depart from Nadi to Brisbane at 8:15 AM, followed by its return flight, FJ920, later that day. Additionally, a supplementary Airbus A330 flight, designated FJ1923, will also be available on Sunday, departing Nadi at 8:30 PM, with a return as FJ1922.
Brisbane Airport has suspended all passenger flights amid safety concerns related to the cyclone, reflecting an industry-wide challenge that many airlines, including major carriers like Virgin Australia, Qantas, and Jetstar, are facing due to adverse weather conditions. The cyclone has led to significant disruptions, with over 320 flights canceled at Brisbane alone.
This situation highlights the operational complexities airlines manage during severe weather events. Notably, Fiji Airways’ proactive measures to rebook passengers on alternative flights demonstrate their commitment to ensuring passenger safety and care during emergencies. Although these cancellations may cause inconvenience, there is optimism that improved weather conditions will soon allow a swift resumption of normal operations, ultimately enhancing travel experiences for customers.
