A tropical disturbance known as 10F has been upgraded to a tropical depression early this morning. Positioned to the east of Vanuatu, this system is within a favorable environment for further development and is expected to escalate into a Category One cyclone later today.

The Fiji Meteorological Service reports that the system is projected to track southeast, with the center remaining to the far west of Fiji. This trajectory is significant as it suggests that while Fiji may experience weather impacts, the worst of the storm could bypass the main islands.

An associated active convergence zone is likely to bring fresh to strong northwesterly winds and rain to Fiji starting Thursday and lasting through the weekend. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and prepare for possible adverse weather conditions.

This situation mirrors previous weather disturbances, such as tropical depression 09F, which also posed challenges with heavy rainfall and strong winds. This emphasizes the continuous need for community readiness.

Fiji’s resilience is noteworthy; instances like these create opportunities for community members to rally together, reinforcing their spirit and collective preparedness in the face of nature’s unpredictability. By supporting one another and adhering to safety protocols, the impact of these weather systems can be managed more effectively, showcasing the strength of the Fijian community during such challenging times.
