Cuvu College’s U18 Rugby Team Upsets Favourites, Eyes Semifinal Glory!

The Cuvu College Under-18 rugby team is focused on improving their performance, particularly in the scrums. Assistant coach Samisoni Navatu shared this insight following their surprising 23-22 victory over Ratu Kadavulevu School, who were favored to win the Vodafone Deans Trophy quarterfinal.

Navatu noted that despite the win, there is still significant room for improvement. He described the match as a challenging contest and expressed gratitude for the victory. “Glory to God for this win,” he stated, acknowledging the team’s achievement.

Additionally, Navatu mentioned there was some confusion regarding the final score when officials initially declared RKS the winner. However, he expressed relief when the decision was reversed, emphasizing that the team still has work to do. Many of the players are either 17 or 18 years old, but they managed to collaborate effectively on the field.

He is now urging their loyal fans to come out in large numbers to support the team in their upcoming semifinal matchup against Nasinu Secondary School on Saturday.
