Cuvu College’s Under-18 rugby team is focused on enhancing their performance, particularly in the scrums. Assistant coach Samisoni Navatu shared this insight after their unexpected 23-22 victory against the favored Ratu Kadavulevu School in the quarterfinals of the Vodafone Deans Trophy.
Navatu acknowledged that there is still significant room for growth, especially following what he described as a tough match. “We are grateful for this win,” he stated, emphasizing the team’s perseverance. “We came with the intention to win, and we succeeded. I commend the boys for their excellent work.”
There was a moment of confusion concerning the final score, as officials initially declared RKS the winner. “We were relieved when the decision was corrected, but we recognize that our work is not complete,” he noted. He also mentioned that the team consists of players who are both 17 and 18 years old, yet they managed to perform well.
Navatu urged the team’s loyal supporters to come out in large numbers to rally behind them in their upcoming semi-final match against Nasinu Secondary School this Saturday.
