Cuvu College’s Thrilling Comeback Shocks RKS in Dramatic Rugby Clash!

Cuvu College showcased remarkable resilience in the Vodafone Super Deans competition, staging a thrilling late comeback to defeat Ratu Kadavulevu School 23-20 in an intense under-18 match at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

After trailing 19-13 at halftime, Cuvu returned with renewed vigor in the second half, scoring two unconverted tries to take the lead. In contrast, RKS could only add a penalty to their scoreline in the second period.

Confusion ensued following the final whistle when RKS kicked the ball out, mistakenly believing they had secured victory. Both teams celebrated until FSSRU officials intervened to correct an earlier decision that could have awarded the match to RKS, leaving Cuvu at an undeserved disadvantage.

Cuvu College principal Manoj Vikash expressed immense pride in the team’s performance, stating, “We give thanks first and foremost to the Almighty. My heart cries out for them. We in Cuvu believe in rugby as a career, and this win has opened doors for our boys.” Tearfully reflecting on the significance of the victory, Vikash emphasized the impact of rugby on their lives and the support from parents.

Coach Samisoni Navatu revealed the key to their second-half success, encouraging the players to believe in themselves and stick to their style of play. He also acknowledged the dedication of their supporters who traveled early to Suva to cheer on their sons.
