The Cuvu College Under-18 rugby team continues to focus on enhancing their performance, particularly in the scrums. Assistant coach Samisoni Navatu shared these insights after the team’s narrow 23-22 victory over Ratu Kadavulevu School, who were favored to win the Vodafone Deans Trophy quarterfinal.
Navatu acknowledged the challenges faced during the match, stating that there is still progress to be made. “Glory to God for this win,” he expressed, highlighting the team’s determination. “We came here with the goal to win, and we achieved that. The boys deserve credit for their efforts.”
He also mentioned a moment of confusion concerning the final score when officials mistakenly declared RKS as the winner. “We were relieved when the decision was corrected, but we know the job isn’t finished yet. Many of our players are still 17, while others are 18, but they managed to come together successfully,” Navatu remarked.
Looking ahead, he is urging their loyal supporters to show up in large numbers to support the team in their upcoming semi-final match against Nasinu Secondary School on Saturday.
