Cuvu College celebrated a thrilling victory in the Vodafone Super Deans competition, defeating Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) 23-20 in a gripping under-18 match held at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Despite trailing 19-13 at halftime, Cuvu mounted a remarkable comeback in the second half, scoring two unconverted tries that gained them the lead while RKS could only add a penalty to their tally.

The conclusion of the match saw a moment of confusion when RKS kicked the ball out, believing they had won. Players from both teams began to celebrate until officials from the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union clarified a scoring error that could have incorrectly awarded the victory to RKS.

Cuvu College principal Manoj Vikash expressed immense pride in his team’s achievement, attributing their success to faith and hard work. With tears in his eyes, he emphasized the life-changing opportunities this win provides for the students. “This win has opened doors for our boys to do something with their lives,” he stated.

Vikash praised the dedication of the players and the support from parents, highlighting the deep-rooted passion for rugby in Nadroga. Coach Samisoni Navatu credited the team’s improved performance in the second half to self-belief and urged his players to stay true to their style of play. He also expressed gratitude to the supporters who traveled early to cheer for their sons.
