Cuvu College Rugby Team Rides High After Upset Victory

The Cuvu College Under-18 rugby team is focusing on enhancing their performance, particularly in the scrums. Assistant coach Samisoni Navatu shared this insight following their narrow 23-22 victory over Ratu Kadavulevu School, who were deemed favorites for the Vodafone Deans Trophy, in the quarterfinal match.

Navatu acknowledged that although they triumphed in a challenging game, there is still significant improvement needed. “There is still room for improvement,” he stated.

He expressed gratitude for the win, saying, “Glory to God for this win. We came here with the goal to win and we did that. Credit to the boys for a job well done.”

Navatu mentioned some confusion regarding the final score, which initially declared RKS as the winner before being overturned. “We were happy when the decision was reversed, but the job is not done yet. Some of our boys in the team are still 17-year-olds while some are 18, but they managed to make it work,” he noted.

He is urging their dedicated supporters to turn out in large numbers to cheer for the team in their upcoming semi-final against Nasinu Secondary School on Saturday.
